Isabella Steffan, member of the Scientific Commission of the X Congresso Nazionale SIE: L’ergonomia verso un modello di città sostenibile: fattore umano, tecnologie, inclusione sociale, comunicazione, (Turin 18th-19th-20th November 2013), participated in the congress as coordinator of the session “Design for all/Universal design” and she presented the contributions “Promozione e diffusione del Design for All: un’esperienza internazionale” with L. Lucchini, “L’accessibilità museale: l’indagine promossa da ICOM-Italia” with L. Lucchini and G. Pirovano, “Creativity as a crucial element for the implementation of Design for All” for the “International Seminary on Human factors and Ergonomics. Creativity in practice”.

Isabella Steffan participated in the conference at Università degli Studi di Milano - Bicocca (8th October 2013), organised for the Degree Course in Tourism Science and Local Community and sponsored by the Municipality of Milan and Trenord, with the intervention “Dalle Barriere architettoniche al Design for All”, as adjunct professor in the workshop “Accessible Tourism” at the Department of Sociology.

UNI is the Italian Organization for Standardization that represents Italy at ISO, the main Organization for Standardization at international level. The video shows the importance to adopt technical regulations, in order to ensure safety for everybody in all aspects of everyday life: in workplaces, at home, during leisure activities. They concern health, food, ICT, consumer goods and services and promote their quality, favouring innovation, development and sustainability

The advertisement realized by Italia.it (the Italian Tourism Official Website, sponsored by the Italian Government), aims to promote accessible tourism and to develop an approach to hospitality that can welcome and satisfy every tourist. In this way, tourism may really become a tool to promote greater social inclusion.

The video shows some highlights of the workshop eMpower – Municipalities enabling the citizens, organized in the framework of the European Union Grundtvig Programme and attended by Isabella Steffan.
The workshop underlined the potentialities for local authorities to adopt the Design for All approach for public urban spaces, means of transport, workplaces. The educational experience was led by Centre National Info-Handicap. The workshop allowed participants to experiment and discuss on best practices around the accessibility of urban spaces and means of transport (Luxembourg, 9th – 14th May 2013)
